Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

Makes 4 Sandwiches

Ingredients:

Chicken:

  • 4 pieces of chicken breast (pounded or cut thin) or 4 chicken thighs
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Mayonnaise
  • Brioche buns (toasted)

Flour Mixture:

  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup corn starch
  • 1 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Nashville chicken rub (add more for more heat)

Egg Wash

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. hot sauce

Finishing Glaze:

  • ½ cup hot oil from frying chicken
  • 2 T Turbo Trusser Nashville hot rub
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Directions:

  • Heat peanut oil in frying pan or deep fryer (enough to cover chicken pieces)
  • Bring oil to 325 degrees
  • Dip chicken in egg wash and dredge in flour mixture 2 times
  • Fry chicken in oil until golden brown
  • Remove chicken from oil and set on a wire rack
  • In a small bowl add all finishing glaze ingredients and whisk
  • Spoon 2 Tbsp of glaze on each piece of chicken
  • Transfer chicken to a brioche bun with mayo and pickles
  • Serve
