Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

Nashville Hot Chicken



Ingredients:

Makes 4 Sandwiches

Chicken:

  • 4 pieces of chicken breast (pounded or cut thin) or 4 chicken thighs
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Mayonnaise 
  • Brioche buns (toasted)

Flour Mixture

  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup corn starch
  • 1 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. Nashville chicken rub (add more for more heat)

Egg Wash

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. hot sauce

Finishing Glaze

  • ½ cup hot oil from frying chicken
  • 2 T Turbo Trusser Nashville hot rub
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Heat peanut oil in frying pan or deep fryer (enough to cover chicken pieces)
  2. Bring oil to 325 degrees
  3. Dip chicken in egg wash and dredge in flour mixture 2 times
  4. Fry chicken in oil until golden brown
  5. Remove chicken from oil and set on a wire rack
  6. In a small bowl add all finishing glaze ingredients and whisk
  7. Spoon 2 Tbsp of glaze on each piece of chicken 
  8. Transfer chicken to a brioche bun with mayo and pickles 
  9. Serve
